:: Saturday TOPs Preparation Program at DGA ::
As many of you already know, Denton Gymnastics Academy is part of
USAG’s TOPS program. TOPs (Talent Opportunity Program), is a talent
search and educational program for female gymnast ages 7-11 and their
coaches. During the months of June and July gymnasts age 7-11 are
evaluated on physical abilities at the state or regional level. These dates
are set by your regional TOP manager in conjunction with your National
Elite Program Chair. From there, athletes are invited to participate in the
National TOP test that is conducted in the month of October where they
will be evaluated on the same physical abilities tests along with some
basic gymnastics skills. Athletes are then invited to participate in the
National TOP Training camp which takes place in December of each year.
Starting January 2009 we are giving our gymnasts (ages 6 -11) the
opportunity to register with this program. Every Saturday we will have a 2
hours physical ability conditioning session which will not only prepare
them for the TOPS test but also help improve their overall gymnastics
fitness. As stated above the State Test will be/typically is in June/July.
The participation in this program is directly dependent on your level of
commitment. We will require a 6 month commitment from all gymnasts
signing up for this program. Pricing is set at $90/month.
More then 3500 gymnasts participate in this program. The top 25
gymnasts (per age group) in the nation are selected for the National
Team A. In 2008 Denton Gymnastics Academy placed 2 gymnasts(in the
top 5) in the National Team A: Adeline Helland and Emily Milliet. In 2007
DGA placed 4 gymnasts(in the top 5) in the National Team A: Abby
Milliet, Adeline Helland, Emily Milliet and Madison Cindric. Abby and
Madison are now part of the USAG ELITE program.
