| Saturday TOPs Preparation Program at DGA 5 DGA Gymnasts kicked-off the TOPS testing season on June 25, 2010. As many of you already know, Denton Gymnastics Academy is part of USAG’s TOPS program. TOPs (Talent Opportunity Program), is a talent search and educational program for female gymnasts ages 7- 11. During the months of June and July the gymnasts are evaluated on physical abilities at the state or regional level. These dates are set by your regional TOP manager in conjunction with the National Elite Program Chair. From there, athletes are invited to participate in the National TOP test where they will be evaluated on the same physical abilities tests along with some basic gymnastics skills. Qualifying athletes are then invited to participate in the National TOP Training camp which takes place in December of each year. Every Saturday we will have a 1 to 2 hour physical ability conditioning session which will not only prepare them for the TOPS test but also help improve their overall gymnastics fitness. As stated above the State Test will typically be in June/July. The participation in this program is directly dependent on your level of commitment. More then 3500 gymnasts participate in this program. The top 25 gymnasts (per age group) in the nation are selected for the National Team A.In 2009 Denton Gymanstics Academy placed Emily Milliet in the National TOPS Team. In 2008 Denton Gymnastics Academy placed 2 gymnasts (in the top 5) in the National Team A: Adeline Helland and Emily Milliet. In 2007 DGA placed 4 gymnasts (in the top 5) in the National Team A: Abby Milliet, Adeline Helland, Emily Milliet and Madison Cindric. Abby and Madison went on to become part of the USAG ELITE program. | TXUSAG Awards Banquet 2010 will be on August 7, 2010 at Noon in Houston, TX. Abby Milliet, Emily Milliet, and Justine Cherwink...congratulations! We are so very proud of you! Due to your notable accomplishments throughout the TXUSAG season, you will be honored with an award on July, 9 2010 by the Texas USAG.
